This Marion County ferry, which runs for part of the week, makes frequent trips back and forth across the river when in operation ($3). Paddlers should watch carefully, as people often misjudge the speed of the ferry. Even though the operators are careful to watch for river craft, one must be vigilant! You can park and launch from either side of the ferry.  The West side is a popular summer hang out for locals to enjoy the river.  The East side has a small gravel beach (just downstream of the ferry landing that works well for loading your boat with gear and launching off on your adventure.
